The value story
The lowest price on record is $7.99, set in November 2025. Its cuts run 75 percent off as a rule. There have been 61 in the 7 years tracked, about 5 weeks apart.
It is pricier than 97 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 83 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Lords of the Fallen ($9.89, scores 25) beats it on value, while it beats Rise of the Ronin ($49.99, scores 9).
81 on Metacritic, 67 percent from players. A gap this way round is usually launch damage or a slow decline.
Of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 19 come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written March 2022 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 8 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 3,162 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 493 have a larger share. Inside the two-hour refund window, 24 percent of the 547 reviews written there were positive, against 67 percent overall, and those are 17 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
I really enjoyed it. Atmosphere is really good. Visuals timeless and beautiful. Combat is simple but challenging enough to have satisfied me. And the setting is really cool, if only there was more dlc. Played on steamdeck performance was fine. Certain spots always caused stutters if I sprinted into them but nothing that killed the fun.
I recommend Ashen wholeheartedly. It is beautiful to look at. The art style is unique and the biomes evoke distinct moods. Your first glimpse of the Cracked Path is breathtaking, and the views from inside the Palace of Lathyrus are gorgeous. With the fall of the Ashen, the world was imprisoned in shadow. He is waking up, and you are helping overthrow those who would keep the world in the dark. The voice acting is...
DEAD GAME DONT BOTHER!!! it would be great if they FIXED anything, but clearly they have not, multiplayer is a joke, constant desync, bugs, bad design choices, things feel like a mess... To bad to I really wanted like this. A friend and I tried to come back to this a small handful of times and it was always lacking, and bugs or bad design choices always got me to uninstall it not to long after playing it.
