What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
The lowest price on record is $0.99, set in December 2024. It has been discounted 38 times in the 5 years tracked here, typically at 75 percent off, with about 7 weeks between sales. Today's $1.99 at 90 percent off still sits 101 percent above the floor, so a deeper cut exists in its history.
Take the discount away and it is a 67. With it, 84.
Against its own genre it lands in the top 5 percent on value. It is pricier than 70 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 83 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Little Nightmares ($4.99, scores 88) beats it on value, while it beats Resident Evil ($19.99, scores 66).
Critics scored it 75. Players sit 15 points higher at 90 percent, which usually means a game that plays better than it reviews.
Steam's global achievement data puts 27 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. The median game this site can measure sits at 8. This site sampled 800 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 16 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written February 2022 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 59 percent of the 634 reviews written there were positive, against 90 percent overall, and those are 10 percent of everything written about it.
At 9.4 hours it is a handheld-sized game, and Valve rates it Deck Verified.

What players say
I stayed awake for this game for the old school vibe game I had fun but game needs better combat and puzzles needs a lot of work there is some good one and there is nasty ones like ??? It's fun game overall
Excelent game, suggested if you are looking into that silent hill, resident evil, parasite eve 2 nostalgia.
Clearly the people downvoting this game have never played the og RE games, or any old school survival horror for that matter. THERE IS A REASON THE SAVES ARE LIMITED. GIT GUD and stop complaining, this game is ♥♥♥ awesome and worth every penny.

Tormented Souls scores 84/100 on the BANG Score (worth it). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/1367590/tormented-soulsThe BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 19, price as of Sep 23.
