What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
It has never been cheaper than $7.99. That was September 2025. 52 discounts in the 5 years on record. They run about 30 percent off, roughly 5 weeks apart. Today's $9.99 at 50 percent off still sits 25 percent above the floor, so a deeper cut exists in its history. The math puts its BANGER price at $8.44. The record reaches that level 2 times.
Take the discount away and it is a 69. With it, 82.
On value it sits in the top 1 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 89 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 98 percent. The nearest things to it, We Were Here Together ($12.99, scores 56) and We Were Here Too ($9.99, scores 50), are both worse buys on this math.
82 from critics against 94 percent from players, and the player number comes from people who own the game.
35 of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written January 2023 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 73 percent of the 1,325 reviews written there were positive, against 94 percent overall, and those are 8 percent of everything written about it.
7.6 hours to finish it, 16 to exhaust it. The completionist tail is 2.1 times the campaign.
Still 674 concurrent players, 5 years in.
Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified, and at 7.6 hours it is short enough to finish on one.

What players say
Fun puzzle game! Some levels are pretty challenging, so it keeps you busy for a long time. Some of the controls I dont love, but I'm not normally a PC player so it may just be getting used to it
Neat escape room game, the mechanics are very diverse between rooms and it's easily playable single player. Lots of short 15 minute rooms and a bunch of longer ones come with the game. Community escape rooms and DLC available too. I've enjoyed the challenges and the digital nature allows for some creative environments that would be tricky in real life.
I love escape/puzzle games so I'm a bit biased on this one. Took me roughly 22 hours to 100% although I did redo many levels when friends also purchased the game. I have to say I prefer to solo this one as the rooms aren't really that big and feels cramped with friends.
Player reviews from Steam: the most helpful all-time, plus the newest that clear the same quality bar, with the hours each player had put in when they wrote it. The mix of Recommended and Not recommended follows the game's Steam ratio. Rotates daily. Opinions are theirs.

Escape Simulator scores 82/100 on the BANG Score (worth it). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/1435790/escape-simulatorThe BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 15, price as of Sep 23.
