What drives the score

How to read this

Grades run S to D, read from the buyer's side. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. How the grades work

Holding it back
Reviews74% positive
Gates the score. Weak reviews cap it, and nothing reaches BANGER without strong ones
Reach10K+ owners
How many own it and play it, by SteamSpy's estimates (an old snapshot), the biggest driver for a game with no ending
Refunds17 of 454 reviews
Well above the typical game's share of reviews from refunded buyers, so the score takes a small dock
For context
Value$0.35/hr
Price per hour of game. This genre scores on player counts instead That is today's sale price. Normally $2.30/hr
MonetizationNot known
No monetization record for this game, so nothing is assumed either way

About the game

The spiritual successor to the award-winning game Void Bastards, Wild Bastards is a roguelike strategy shooter with heart-pounding FPS action, mod management, and a tactical campaign. Saddle up and lead the most notorious outlaws in the galaxy.
Description from the Steam store page.
Minimum specs

Minimum on the Steam store: 8 GB of memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, 10 GB of storage. Windows only.

The value story

It has been discounted 24 times in the 2 years tracked here. The median cut across all of them is 75 percent, about 5 weeks apart. Today's $5.24 at 85 percent off matches the lowest price in the record.

It is pricier than 99 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 73 percent. The games it most resembles do better on the same math. Void Bastards ($29.99, scores 64) and Tower of Guns ($14.99, scores 54) both outscore it.

More about Wild Bastards

Of the 454 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 17 come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written September 2024 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 1,174 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 16 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 2 of the 17 refunded reviewers were past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 37 percent of the 123 reviews written there were positive, against 74 percent overall, and those are 20 percent of everything written about it.

Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified, so it runs on the handheld without fiddling.

What players say

Like this game a lot Pros: It has quick, fun, tight gunfights with rich sci-fi western flavour 13 characters that feels and plays really differently Cons: story ends without much satisfaction (one can argue that it's rather open ended and naturally leads into playing other modes next, but that's not quite what normally expected from the story, right?) So gameplay and characters rules but story sucks, also...

My favorite indie game of all time is Void Bastards which is criminally underrated and underplayed, but this game is far from the great game that that game was. It's not bad, but it is for sure far from great. In Void Bastards it was just one map, not map on map with encounter after encounter that brings you out of combat and back to the map constantly in this game. It can be confusing at first, however as simple as...

Should have named it "Wet Noodles" because this is what it feels. Calling this a "Void Bastards" successor is just unhinged. Void Bastards had a perfectly balanced gunplay, every mistake of weapon choice or encounter choice was 95% entirely on you (random sometimes can screw you over). You could rely on your aiming and weapon knowledge skills and gear / weapons progression felt rewarding with every upgrade. I...
