It is pricier than 99 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 91 percent. Among the games that feel like it, FINAL FANTASY XIV Online ($19.99, scores 64) beats it on value, while it beats Lords Of The Fallen™ 2014 ($29.99, scores 3).
This site sampled 800 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 16 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written May 2023 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 7 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 3,162 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 677 have a larger share. Inside the two-hour refund window, 28 percent of the 923 reviews written there were positive, against 63 percent overall, and those are 17 percent of everything written about it.

pretty fun game. the opening hours of the game are slow and the game starts to open up about ~10 hours in, which is almost half of my runtime in the game. it's understandable that people would want more out of a $70 game but this is a solid buy on sale the combat system and traversal are great and makes the game enjoyable. the enemy variety is low and the open world is repetitive, but that's offset by how quickly...
This game was fun. The combat is literally one of the best I have ever seen. I actually went on to platinum this game. A bit of advice to anyone who plans on getting this game, do the Spellcraft challenges, as early as possible so you learn the deeper combat mechanics. I was so distraught to have learnt all these cool combat moves end game. I was blown away by Frey's techniques, I just learned them a bit too late...
If you read any reviews, please read mine. I recommend this game, 12/10. It starts off a little slow, but the character arc and world building are well worth the wait. People may get upset about Frey's perspective and how she responds to certain conflicts, but I think it really rounds her character out and really makes her human. You don't play this game to make your own choices, you play this game to enjoy...
