What players say
While the combat isn't as tight as I like for a metroidvainia rpg, I have thouroughly enjoyed my time in Astlibra. The possession system is fun, especially late game once you have gotten stronger. What I really enjoyed is the grind. Astlibra is one of the few games where the grinding feeds into multiple systems that are all rewarding to the player while not being the time-vampire that such systems are usually...

Astlibra is a game that was mostly made by one person over the span of 15 years. And it absolutely shows in all aspects, both good and bad, with the positives far far far outweighing the negatives. Both the gameplay and especially the storytelling contain so many absolutely insane ideas that would normally never make it past the approval stage in a larger development team. Thus making this title be a one of a kind...
I only bought this because I'd heard it was a solo dev passion project, and the overwhelmingly positive reviews suggested that it wasn't complete trash. Turns out this game's got chops; it plays far better than it looks like it has any right to. Didn't expect to get this invested in the story, either. Why do AAA games even exist when 1 dude can make this in a cave with a box of scraps?
