Cute and cool critter collection game! Love the whismy in it, like how the "fights" are volleyball matches, how it knowingly operates on sports anime logic, and how silly the beasties look. It also (to me) makes it more grounded than something like Pokémon: no burning eachother alive but in a cute way, just hitting the ball; and no organization trying to like flood the world and getting stopped by a random kid, just...

Imagine Pokémon, but it was fun, and had a story, and characters you'd care about. The volleyball double-battles system makes this just an absolute star in my eyes. Also, Lena Raine's music is impeccable as always. Also I'm not that far into the game but I hope there's an option to marry Sports King. I need to smooch him, he sucks so much for the coolest man alive.
Turns out Pokemon and volleyball go together like peanut butter and chocolate. The rest of the game is fairly barebones, but the combat system shines enough to make up for it. It takes the simplicity of a monster-collecting turn-based RPG, makes every battle a 2v2, forces you to manage positioning, and changes the victory condition to scoring points. Also, the beasties are adorable and the writing is very funny.
