The value story
It has never been cheaper than $7.99. That was September 2026. It has been discounted 15 times in the 2 years tracked here, typically at 50 percent off, with about 6 weeks between sales. Today's $7.99 at 80 percent off matches the lowest price in the record.
Value puts it in the top 39 percent of the games it competes with. It is pricier than 96 percent of its genre. On the same math CRISIS CORE –FINAL FANTASY VII– REUNION ($17.49, scores 53) and FINAL FANTASY XVI ($19.99, scores 55) are the better buys, and they are the games it most resembles.
This site sampled 636 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 8 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written September 2024 to September 2026.

What players say
This game is extremely fun and addicting. The collection/taming and dragon quest elements are all hitting the right notes. I think the most important takeaway is that while the game is "technically" playable without having played Dragon Quest 4, you are going to miss like 20-30 story and character references, map locations, and how this game interweaves with the plot of Dragon Quest 4, which actually makes the game...
This game is fun. Raising monsters, fusing them, watching your team grow stronger-it scratches that old-school Dragon Quest itch perfectly. The designs are charming, the combat is solid, and the whole journey feels rewarding. But once you beat the story… that's it. Post-game is basically "grind if you want," but there's no real hook to keep you going. No big endgame content, no meaningful reason to keep playing...
The game itself seems fine, but as I reached the point where I meet Rosi, I didnt like it. She got abused by humans, but complains that we cast a firespell on the guy who was whipping her to make her cry, then she stalks us, follows us home and then we get the ''option'' to send her away, but in fact that is a forced Route so if you say no, you are stucked in a Loop so yeah. After that I lost interested in the rest...
