What drives the score

How to read this

Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.

The value story

It has never been cheaper than $4.49. That was May 2026. It has been discounted 97 times in the 13 years tracked here, typically at 75 percent off, with about 6 weeks between sales. Today it is at full price. The last sale was about 4 weeks ago, and on this game's rhythm the next one tends to arrive within 6 weeks. Past sales have already crossed the $9.58 BANGER line 86 times.

On value it sits in the top 4 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 98 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 98 percent. Among the games that feel like it, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE ($29.99, scores 96) beats it on value, while it beats Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition ($29.99, scores 52).

Critics scored it 85. Players sit 8 points higher at 93 percent, which usually means a game that plays better than it reviews.

Steam's global achievement data says about 16 percent of players ever finish it. On a 9.2-hour game, that is a lot of paid-for hours most people never see. This site sampled 800 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 12 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written August 2022 to September 2026. That is fewer refunded reviewers than 7 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 3,221 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 2,680 have a larger share. Inside the two-hour refund window, 79 percent of the 1,439 reviews written there were positive, against 93 percent overall, and those are 7 percent of everything written about it.

Finishing takes 9.2 hours; clearing it takes 40, which is 4.4 times the campaign.

Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified, and at 9.2 hours it is short enough to finish on one.

What players say

Behind the awful character design and personality containted in this game, is another amazing entry in the devil may cry franchise. If you can look past what Ninja Theory has done to Dante and Vergil you'd actually find a really solid hack n slash game. Very worth it to pick up on sale for those that enjoy DmC games. 8/10

Story wise first half was kind of boring and voice lines often were super corny and cringe, but second half got better, overall its a decent game. Combat was super fun and all of the weapons were really good to use, some missions and places were laggy and buggy but overall i think its an ok spinoff.

Visual wise, it's adequate for a game released in the 2010s. Combat mechanical wise, it's typical to a devil may cry game. Will I recommend this to others? Sure, but not unless I know they enjoy a good 3d hack and slash game

The BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.

Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 13, price as of Sep 24.
