The value story

February 2016 is where it bottomed out, at $4.49. It has been discounted 56 times in the 13 years tracked here, typically at 60 percent off, with about 12 weeks between sales.

Against its own genre it lands in the top 13 percent on value. It is pricier than 84 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 89 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Riven (1997) ($5.99, scores 60) beats it on value, while it beats Myst ($34.99, scores 44).

None of the 363 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2020 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 60 percent of the 177 reviews written there were positive, against 89 percent overall, and those are 13 percent of everything written about it.

What players say

Good update for its time. But I would play the newer 2020 version of Myst if your going to play one.

After playing the original game, i was afraid that i wont like this newer version as well. But it seems that i just didnt like the mechanic of the game. This game was really nice and more intuitive then the original. I liked it very much and the puzzles where really nice and a bit tricky too. If you didnt like the original, give this version a go. I can highly recommend it.

Classic. I played the original version of this game on a Packard Bell computer with Windows 3.1. The ability to free roam and toggle between walk and run makes this version so much easier to replay. Point and click is still an option for the old-school feel. There are also updated graphics/textures if you change the settings in-game although the visuals were pretty well done even back in the 90s Worth playing if you...
