The value story
It has never been cheaper than $14.99. That was April 2026. Its cuts run 30 percent off as a rule. There have been 14 in the 2 years tracked, about 6 weeks apart. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended about 4 weeks ago.
On value it sits in the top 3 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 91 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 92 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga ($19.99, scores 91) beats it on value, while it beats Pathway ($15.99, scores 43).
The press gave it 77; the people who bought it give it 89 percent. A 12-point gap in the buyer's favour.
Steam's global achievement data puts about 14 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. On a 25.6-hour game, the hours short of it still count in its price per hour. This site sampled 465 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 11 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written March 2025 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 8 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 3,162 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 408 have a larger share. Inside the two-hour refund window, 73 percent of the 154 reviews written there were positive, against 89 percent overall, and those are 10 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
Much improved over Dark Deity 1. Narrated storyline, excellent voice cast who really voiced the game, not a script. New additions of Training Grounds to train up lagging characters, and Challenge stages which reward completion with high damage weapons and rare resources. The story is well-written to flesh out narrative, provide urgency in spots, and develop the world around the game. Battles are a bit more forgiving...
Much like Dark Deity 1, I greatly enjoyed DD2. The characters feel developed and some of the interactions are highly entertaining (Benji & Khamari was my absolute favorite). The art and animations are top notch! And the voice acting!! Really, really great. Elizabeth Maxwell was particularly standout to me. The magic system was a lot of fun to use and added to the strategic layer. The weapon runes also gave a large...
Mechanically, I would say it is definitely a better game than DD1. There's a nice degree of customisability, of units, which I liked. The characters and story somehow didn't really click for me. I think the characters feel a too much like archetypes and the VA-delivery of their lines is not the best. Also the cutscenes lack polish. Facial expressions, animations, soundtrack: all the things that make a good scene...
