The value story
June 2026 is where it bottomed out, at $23.99. It has been discounted 15 times in the 2 years tracked here, typically at 50 percent off, with about 7 weeks between sales. Today's $23.99 at 60 percent off matches the lowest price in the record.
At full price it scores 41. The current cut is what makes it a 50.
On value it sits in the top 18 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 98 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 68 percent. Among the games that feel like it, CRISIS CORE –FINAL FANTASY VII– REUNION ($17.49, scores 53) beats it on value, while it beats Legend of Mana ($10.49, scores 48).
This site sampled 492 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 18 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written August 2024 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 3,162 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 63 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 1 of the 18 refunded reviewers was past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 58 percent of the 145 reviews written there were positive, against 78 percent overall, and those are 7 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
+ beautiful world + good character design + QOL, fast travel + class change + fantasy leotard - boring side quest - party member lack of story
"Why isn't this main character in all the game art? and why isn't she playabe? ....oh, that's why" An okay jrpg, the story is dumb but it's a good "palate cleanser" to unwind between heavier titles.
A flawed average game. Has a few minor good parts and a lot of bad for an ultimately middling experience. The world is kinda flat and plain, sometimes feeling too annoyingly large. Dialogue is quirky and the banter between characters is nice. The story has a few enjoyab beats but is otherwise nothing special and just a typical fantasy adventure. Combat sucks. Camera is awful, targeting is a pain, controls are...
