This has to be one of the best arcade racers to date. Insane destruction in environmental way and slighly in the cars. There are 12 episodes, feels like 1 episode per month. I've never played any game, let alone a racing game, that presents itself like this, with the framework of a late-00's exxxtreme elimination-style gameshow. They hit all the right notes with it, and I don't think there's been a game quite like it since. And the soundtrack is solid, with hype-driven peaks. Great game, poor PC port: you can kinda make a Gamepad work here, but there's no button prompts and the game is made for 30fps which kinda sucks. Otherwise, love Split/Second, yes it's hard/unfair but it's a great racing game filled with spectacular explosions. Black Rock Studio deserved better.
