What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
June 2026 is where it bottomed out, at $2.99. 102 discounts in the 12 years on record. They run about 70 percent off, roughly 5 weeks apart. Today's $5.99 at 80 percent off still sits 100 percent above the floor, so a deeper cut exists in its history.
This sale is doing real work. 58 at list, 69 today.
On value it sits in the top 15 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 90 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 70 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Far Cry 3 ($4.99, scores 76) beats it on value, while it beats Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon® Wildlands ($9.99, scores 51).
Of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 10 come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written July 2026 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 51 percent of the 5,101 reviews written there were positive, against 85 percent overall, and those are 7 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
Even though we had a lot of technical problems and crashing on a modern PC - this game is absolute fun to play and f*ck around with the open world and it's shenanigans. I highly recommend the CO-OP Campaign mod to have a good time with a solid mate, PETA I'm sorry for all the animals we killed for my wallet. Update after 50 Hours in: This mod locks you out of the Arena and the Shangri-La missions, including the...
Honestly, this is just Far Cry 3 on severe steroids, and I'm completely fine with that. Everyone hypes up FC3 for the nostalgia, but mechanically, 4 improved on basically everything. The good: [*]Kyrat is gorgeous and actually feels fun to explore. [*]Pagan Min is a fantastic villain (wish he had even more screen time). [*]The grappling hook and the buzzer completely fix the traversal issues from the last game...
Gameplay better than FC3, story a bit inferior. Unlocking signature weapons as early as possible is fun, breaks the game tho, once you obtain Z93 sniper rifle and equip it with silencer the fortresses are a joke but still compelling. Anyway, onwards to FC5 now

Far Cry® 4 scores 69/100 on the BANG Score (worth it). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/298110/far-cry-4The BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 12, price as of Sep 24.
