What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
It has never been cheaper than $5.99. That was June 2024. Its cuts run 80 percent off as a rule. There have been 80 in the 9 years tracked, about 5 weeks apart. Today's $8.99 at 85 percent off still sits 50 percent above the floor, so a deeper cut exists in its history.
Value puts it in the top 12 percent of the games it competes with. It is pricier than 99 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 85 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Far Cry® 4 ($5.99, scores 69) beats it on value, while it beats Far Cry® 2 ($2.99, scores 47).
7 of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written June 2026 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 49 percent of the 5,593 reviews written there were positive, against 81 percent overall, and those are 3 percent of everything written about it. It sells extras on top of the sticker price (time-limited); the score docks it lightly for that.
HowLongToBeat players log 18.4 hours as a typical playtime, and completionists log 48, 2.6 times as much.
8 years after release it still had 1.3K people in it at once.

What players say
Four full playthroughs. Four times dismantling the entire cult brick by brick. Over 63 hours (actually 150+ :steammocking:) of pure, unadulterated American chaos. From tearing through the Montana skies to liberating outposts with nothing but a compound bow and a grizzly bear, this game isn't just something you play. It's a sandbox you dominate.
maybe the best far cry i have played the graphics , gameplay, soundtrack they are insane
This game ♥♥♥ sucks. I still hold Farcy 3 as one of the greatest open world FPS games ever made. It's got memorable characters, it's got an interesting story, it's fun. The biggest issue is that it barely runs on modern tech. This game ♥♥♥ on the memory of Farcry. It starts off with a character customizer, which basically immediately means that the character you are playing, has no character whatsoever. You are a...

Far Cry® 5 scores 53/100 on the BANG Score (fair value). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/552520/far-cry-5The BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 12, price as of Sep 24.
