What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
It has never been cheaper than $2.49. That was March 2013. 98 discounts in the 14 years on record. They run about 70 percent off, roughly 6 weeks apart. Today's $2.99 at 70 percent off still sits 20 percent above the floor, so a deeper cut exists in its history.
On value it sits in the top 40 percent of its genre. Among the games that feel like it, Far Cry® 4 ($5.99, scores 69) beats it on value, while it beats Far Cry® New Dawn ($7.99, scores 43).
The press liked it more than its buyers did, 85 against 76 percent.
Players rate it 76 percent positive over its lifetime, but the last 30 days run 65 percent. Something recent has soured the room. Of the 699 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 11 come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written November 2025 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 56 percent of the 2,918 reviews written there were positive, against 76 percent overall, and those are 17 percent of everything written about it.
The main story runs 16.9 hours. Doing everything runs 41, 2.4 times as long.

What players say
Drove a rusty jeep for 45 minutes while staring at a literal paper map that covered half my windshield. Stopped to clear an enemy checkpoint. Fired exactly one shot. My AK-47 immediately jammed, rusted into a fine powder, and exploded in my face. Tried to throw a molotov to cover my escape. Hit a tree branch, set the entire savanna on fire, and burned my own jeep to the bare chassis. Got saved by my "buddy," who I...
When i start a game, i finish the game. Except for this piece of trash. the most tedious, boring, annoying game i think i have ever played. i can understand why somebody could enjoy it (its kind of immersive, and is very hardcore) but like, it isn't fun having to drive for 10 minutes but every 2 minutes you HAVE to exit your vehicle, kill like 2 dudes, then repair your car, and drive for another two minutes. This...
Best hardcore Far Cry game ever made that also never get any remaster or remake. Hope this game gets remastered version soon. Anyway, Greatest enemies in this game are "gun jamming" and "malaria". it can happen to you anytime.

Far Cry® 2 scores 47/100 on the BANG Score (a skip). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/19900/far-cry-2The BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Aug 3, price as of Sep 24.
