The value story
August 2026 is where it bottomed out, at $0.99. 29 discounts in the 12 years on record, a median of 60 percent off across all of them, roughly 10 weeks apart.
It is cheaper than 77 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 96 percent. On the same math Prodeus ($24.99, scores 58) and Quake 4 ($14.99, scores 62) are the better buys, and they are the games it most resembles.
More about Blood II: The Chosen + Expansion
Critics scored it 72, but players land 25 points lower at 47 percent. The reviews were kinder than the room.
13 of the 409 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2020 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 1,422 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 75 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 2 of the 13 refunded reviewers were past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 32 percent of the 348 reviews written there were positive, against 47 percent overall, and those are 55 percent of everything written about it.

Fans of the original game will likely be disappointed with Blood II. I first played it in the early 2000s, and even back then I thought it was a mediocre game at best.
