Quake 4 is great Quake game, but it is certainly not without its flaws. Unlike prior Quake games, Quake 4 is clearly interested in delivering a narrative and having characters. We had it good back in 2000s: Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Quake 4, FEAR, Call of Juarez, Prey, Battlefield 2, Serious Sam 2 and others. The game still got it after 20 years. It's short (less than 10 hours, i think), it switches pace, doesn't give you fatigue of doing same stuff, it's atmospheric, no BS cutscenes or guiding hand tutorials.
