Just the coolest game. Romero was firing on all cylinders with the aesthetic on this one. It's rare to see a game that oozes so much style in such a unique, unified vision. I think you should absolutely buy this game... with a caveat: you should grab the game files (including expansions) and just play it off-steam on a different source port (Ironwail for example). I've played Quake plenty of times outside of Steam, and I considered playing this version for the achievements, but I was immediately put off. The problems with this version are many. First of all, the most egregious is that...
The Machinegames campaigns are pure kino. Otherwise, it's Quake. People still play it 30 years later for a reason.
