The value story

June 2016 is where it bottomed out, at $4.99. It has been discounted 40 times in the 12 years tracked here, typically at 70 percent off, with about 4 weeks between sales. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended about 292 weeks ago.

Against its own genre it lands in the top 3 percent on value. It is pricier than 90 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 87 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Torchlight II ($3.99, scores 88) beats it on value, while it beats Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem ($3.99, scores 2).

The press gave it 75; the people who bought it give it 86 percent. An 11-point gap in the buyer's favour.

3 of the 519 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2020 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 66 percent of the 372 reviews written there were positive, against 86 percent overall, and those are 10 percent of everything written about it.

What players say

I can't believe I'm scoring a game down for its difficulty but this is boringly unfair. Attempted hardmode 99% of my playthrough, gave up and switched to casual to try and finish it (as I was only 2 areas away from finishing) and didn't want to give this game any more of my time so gave up on my playthrough. I grinded, geared up and still had so, so many zones impossible because of the sheer volume of seemingly...

It's a cool concept- play as any class with a weapon swap, cast magic, etc. And at first it works pretty well and you're thinking, "Man, why hasn't anyone thought of this before?" Then after a few hours the novelty wears off and I just got too bored with what it offered and too frustrated with what the enemies required. Simplifying your gear options, eliminating builds, etc. means you have little flexibility. I...

This game has one very annoying feature. And that is that every time you change zones the previous one respawns... do i want to clear the same area more than once... no. It can otherwise be considered a Diablo2 clone. But D2 only respaws zones when you restart the game. Not when you happen to sneeze like this game.
