The value story

It has never been cheaper than $13.99. That was June 2026. 44 discounts in the 9 years on record. They run about 50 percent off, roughly 9 weeks apart.

It is pricier than 97 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 78 percent. The games it most resembles do better on the same math. FINAL FANTASY® XIII ($6.39, scores 47) and FINAL FANTASY VI ($10.79, scores 87) both outscore it.

Steam's global achievement data puts about 19 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. On a 16.3-hour game, the hours short of it still count in its price per hour. Of the 631 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 11 come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2020 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 7 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 3,162 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 636 have a larger share. Inside the two-hour refund window, 29 percent of the 297 reviews written there were positive, against 68 percent overall, and those are 12 percent of everything written about it.

The main story runs 16.3 hours. Doing everything runs 33, 2.0 times as long.

What players say

If you played this game as a kid like I did and it imprinted it's fantastic, unique and ethereal music and colorful world on your mind, you were probably at least somewhat interested in this game when it was announced some years ago. The lukewarm reception upon release gave me pause to at least wait for a while and lo and behold when it came up for sale I decided to take the plunge. I was expecting the worst based...

This is a pretty good classic re-made for a new era. I've had this game in many different platforms, and I'm glad to see it on Steam as well. While this game is pretty good, there are some definite nuance bugs in it still after so many years. Basically around the Dwarven village areas you *have* to use the "run"/dash button when you're at 100% readiness to get through "invisivle walls" that block you from things...

I played the Remake on PS5 and the game is alright. However the PC port so full of bugs that it's unplayable. I couldn't fix the bug where your stamina just doesn't fill up, so i'm unable to fight. After an hour of trying to fix it i gave up.
