The value story
It has never been cheaper than $7.99. That was June 2022. 63 discounts in the 8 years on record. They run about 60 percent off, roughly 6 weeks apart.
Against its own genre it lands in the top 47 percent on value. It is pricier than 71 percent of its genre. The games it most resembles do better on the same math. Kero Blaster ($9.99, scores 74) and Castlevania Anniversary Collection ($3.99, scores 61) both outscore it.
Steam's global achievement data puts about 5 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. On a 17.3-hour game, the hours short of it still count in its price per hour. 10 of the 609 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written March 2020 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 48 percent of the 347 reviews written there were positive, against 77 percent overall, and those are 17 percent of everything written about it.
17.3 hours to finish it, 49 to exhaust it. The completionist tail is 2.8 times the campaign.

What players say
"What is this? Some sort of puzzle game?" Jokes aside, My initial impression is that this is only for the hardcore X series fans. X6 has every unhinged idea the developers could dream of, and it feels amazing if you're a special kind of masochist. X7 is where the pioneers of 3D action platforming completely forgot how to make a...
- Runs smoothly - kinda janky going to other tabs while full screen If you forget about x7, 8/10. would recomend
Excellent ports, mixed games (in terms of quality beforehand) X5 and X8 are fantastic as they always have been, X6 and X7 can suck a lemon. Losing my marbles trying to 100% this collection simply because of the tediousness that X6 and X7 provide in general. Overall it's a really good collection and I feel the presence of X5 and X8 balance it out.
