The value story
It has never been cheaper than $2.19. That was October 2022. It has been discounted 62 times in the 8 years tracked here, typically at 33 percent off, with about 5 weeks between sales.
It is cheaper than 62 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 61 percent. No one lives under the lighthouse Director's cut ($6.99, scores 64) outscores it, and so does The Path ($9.99, scores 44). Both sit among its closest neighbours.
Of the 532 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 7 come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2020 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 7 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 1,656 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 181 have a larger share. Inside the two-hour refund window, 75 percent of the 1,063 reviews written there were positive, against 73 percent overall, and those are 79 percent of everything written about it.

I get the hate on driving sections: they are longer than a TikTok video and feature no explosions, breakcore background music, or Minecraft parkour to make them bearable for an atmospheric game. I get the hate on artsy and disjointed narrative: forming an impression and paying attention to details is unrewarding and needlessly hard, and the dev should've just asked Claude to fix the plot. I get the hate on boring...
When I got this game, the first review I read said something along the lines of "this game is as deep or as shallow as you let it be," and I genuinely believe that. I truly believe this game is a work of art and has a full story to tell. The title Paratopic feels fitting in the way the game presents its story through fragmented scenes and the context surrounding the important moments. You're only going to find what...
It was interesting and it made me feel things. Made me feel curious. Made me want to know more. There's not much to it, but I do think that what is there is good, if you're the right kind of person. If not- don't worry too much.
