The value story
It has never been cheaper than $1.99. That was December 2024. Its cuts run 75 percent off as a rule. There have been 46 in the 5 years tracked, about 5 weeks apart.
It is pricier than 87 percent of its genre. Death's Gambit: Afterlife ($19.99, scores 52) outscores it, and so does Hyper Light Drifter ($4.99, scores 89). Both sit among its closest neighbours.
Steam's global achievement data puts about 17 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. On a 5.3-hour game, the hours short of it still count in its price per hour. Players rate it 73 percent positive over its lifetime, but the last 30 days run 58 percent. Something recent has soured the room. Of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 8 come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written June 2022 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 55 percent of the 610 reviews written there were positive, against 73 percent overall, and those are 20 percent of everything written about it.
The main story runs 5.3 hours. Doing everything runs 15, 2.9 times as long.
Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified, and at 5.3 hours it is short enough to finish on one.

What players say
It's meh... boss has infinite health and doesn't really care about the player's actions at all. The mechanics itself is a downward spiral instead of a positive feedback loop. Also player gets one shot, but not because you've got one health, but because there's always one instakill ability for every boss. Could've been a better game had dodging becomes more awarding.
Not a souls-like, just a boss rush, it has virtually no exploration for once. The perceived soulslike fatigue stems from mistagging like this .
