The value story
April 2026 is where it bottomed out, at $7.99. It has been discounted 23 times in the 3 years tracked here, typically at 75 percent off, with about 6 weeks between sales. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended about 5 weeks ago.
It is pricier than 97 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 91 percent. Total War: WARHAMMER III ($59.99, scores 36) outscores it, and so does Total War: WARHAMMER ($59.99, scores 54). Both sit among its closest neighbours.
42 of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written January 2024 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 2,814 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 144 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 6 of the 42 refunded reviewers were past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 38 percent of the 664 reviews written there were positive, against 63 percent overall, and those are 18 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
After 88 turns and 29 hours I finished my first campaign as Ramesses, achieving ultimate victory, on normal difficulty. Here are some of my thoughts. -although happiness and influence (control) are still a thing, during all this time even conquering a region a turn and looting I never had a single rebellion. This is refreshing compared to other total war games where you constantly and endlessly play wackamole with...
Good game. Can improve graphic performance on Hight setting for RTX3070. Need more zoom in feature and mods
It's a little boring. An improved port of Troy. Some cool mechanics I'd like in other total wars. Just get Three kingdoms or Warhammer 3
