What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
It has never been cheaper than $0.49. That was October 2014. It has been discounted 97 times in the 14 years tracked here, typically at 80 percent off, with about 6 weeks between sales. Today it is at full price. The last sale was about 14 weeks ago, and on this game's rhythm the next one tends to arrive within 6 weeks.
It is cheaper than 74 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 96 percent. On the same math Call of Duty®: WWII ($59.99, scores 16) and NecroVision ($0.74, scores 23) are the better buys, and they are the games it most resembles.
None of the 285 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written March 2020 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 40 percent of the 226 reviews written there were positive, against 46 percent overall, and those are 38 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
Pretty uninspiring Painkiller game but it's at least fun to play, on the contrary to Resurrection. An okay meat grinder for an evening with a big amount of enemies, familiar Daniel/Belial characters and weapons. 6/10
It's 50/50. Redemption was the very first ''Painkiller-Containing product'' I played after the original games. I was quite surprised to see that I did miss something earlier. Little did I know... I hadn't really missed much after all. It's fine if you REALLY want to play something that's at least related to Painkiller. Otherwise, skip this one. I had fun playing it in 2016, but overall it's just an attempt to...
"There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all." ~Peter Drucker "When in doubt, sell Painkiller mods." Funny how that became a motto. On the other hand, it's really, like, really sad how the series got completely f*cked up right after the very first entry. I mean, it only had one proper game. And after that? It was, like, one long downfall. The official expansion (called...

Painkiller Redemption scores 0/100 on the BANG Score (a skip). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/65560/painkiller-redemptionThe BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 5, price as of Sep 24.
