Worth 100%-ing

High-value games a lot of players actually see through to the end. The ones that keep you to the finish.

Almost nobody finishes a game. Half-Life 2 scores 96.4 and 1.5 percent of owners have the ending achievement. Portal 2 is 2.4 percent. Two of the best games ever made, and the credits are a rumor. That is why this list exists, and why it is only 56 games out of 94,959.

The gate is 40 percent completion read off Steam global achievements, plus a known length and a BANG of 80. Completion data exists for 8,640 games and 670 of those clear 40 percent, so the BANG floor and the length requirement do most of the cutting. I chose 40 because that is roughly where finishing a game stops being unusual. Detroit: Become Human sits at 88 percent finished on 257,105 reviews, BANG 98.5, and it runs 12.1 hours. Gorogoa is 70.2 percent finished, BANG 97.8, 1.8 hours. The Room Two: 69.1 percent, 3.1 hours, BANG 99.7.

The bias is obvious once the list is in front of you. Short games win on completion because finishing them is easy, so Superflight, a 1.1-hour toy at 89.3 percent, sits above everything longer on the page. Achievement design is uneven too. A game that hands you a trophy in the tutorial reads as finished, and a game that ships no achievements never appears here at all, which quietly excludes a lot of older titles.
