Hidden Gems Under $10

Written by Jordan Allen Lewis · list · updated 2h ago

High-scoring games that aren't the usual blockbusters. Cheap, great, and easy to miss.

Vampire Survivors and Slay the Spire are not here, and that is the whole design. The filter is ten dollars or less, a BANG of 80 or better, and an owner estimate at or under two million. Drop that last clause and the list is 732 games, with those two back in it. Both are great. They are also games you have heard about forty times already, and a list that recommends them is telling you nothing. The two million cap cuts 141 games for the crime of being famous.

What is left leads with The Room Two at 99.7, 3.1 hours and 21,663 reviews against a 750,000 owner estimate. Then Finding Paradise at 98.9, which lists at $9.99 and will do something to you that a spreadsheet cannot explain. Gunpoint is 98.6 at the same list price, a three hour spy puzzler from 2013. Hexcells is 98.5 and lists at $2.99, and it is the one I have restarted most.

Two million is arbitrary. I picked it because it is roughly where a SteamSpy estimate stops reading as small and starts reading as mainstream, and those estimates are bucketed and rough at every level. The clause also silently drops the 157 games in this price and score range that have no owner estimate at all. That is a bug I have not fixed. If something you love is missing from here, that is the likeliest reason.
